"Are you still quite etiquette?"

How do I behave properly at a job interview? What style of dress is appropriate? Or which etiquette rules apply at which events?

These are all questions that we, the industrial clerk trainees at the SBBS Wirtschaft/Verwaltung Gera - Dr Eduard Amthor, dealt with as part of the project learning field.

Everyday events make it necessary, as citizens and future all-round workers in industry, to deal with and analyse the norms, rules and values of our society. For this reason, we were given the project assignment on the topic of "Etiquette for private and professional life" by our clients Mrs H. Häselbarth (teacher at SBBS Wirtschaft/Verwaltung) and Mrs C. Purfürst (trainer at Bauerfeind AG).

We looked at various pieces of literature, such as the book "On dealing with people" by Mr Knigge himself. With this knowledge, our aim was to familiarise other trainees with the topic of etiquette through workshops we had developed ourselves.

After weeks of hard preparation with acting performances, self-made film scenes, flyers and quizzes, the time had come and we held our dress rehearsal in the assembly hall in front of pupils, our school management, our clients Mrs Purfürst and Mrs Häselbarth, the chairman of the Lions Club Gera Mr Knolle and the branch manager of Deutsche Bank Gera Mr Schletter.

Thanks to the positive feedback and constructive criticism, we felt very well prepared for organising the workshops at Bauerfeind AG in Zeulenroda and HORSCH Maschinen GmbH in Ronneburg.

The trainees at both sites showed great interest and listened attentively to the etiquette workshops. The exchange on a topic that is still so important was as interactive as we had hoped for. The trainers also gave us very positive feedback. They emphasised that etiquette is not outdated, on the contrary, the importance of etiquette rules is constantly increasing.

Our etiquette project ended with thunderous applause and we can look back on an exciting and successful time.

We would like to thank the Lions Club, especially Mr Knolle, Mrs Purfürst and Mrs Häselbarth, our school management and the school's support association for their active support.

As a class, we would also like to thank our project management for their excellent leadership and always open and friendly communication.
